In the spring of 1954, Haley and His Comets left Essex Records for New York-based Decca Records. Soon they created their biggest hit – Rock Around the Clock. Bill Haley and the Comets were a group of pioneers of white people who brought rock and roll music to the attention of America and the rest of the world.
