German Strong Verbs

In older historical linguistics terminology, a strong verb is an irregular verb that marks its past tense by means of changes to the stem vowel (ablaut), especially when referring to Germanic languages. The majority of Germanic verbs form the past tense by means of a dental suffix, and are known as weak verbs or regular verbs.
