15/12/1973 APA votes 13–0 to remove homosexuality from the DSM

The Board of Trustees voted to remove homosexuality as a disorder category from the DSM, a decision ratified by a majority of the general American Psychiatric Association membership the following year. A category of "sexual orientation disturbance" was introduced in its place in 1974, and then replaced in the 1980 DSM-III with Ego-dystonic sexual orientation.
