Primary sexual characters and secondary sexual characters in brief
Secondary Sexual Characters
Secondary sex characteristics are features that indicate genetic fitness to the opposite sex, but unlike sex organs, they are not directly part of the reproductive system. They can give an individual an advantage over its rivals in courtship and aggressive interactions, and are believed to be the product of sexual selection. These characteristics appear during puberty in humans, and at sexual maturity in other animals. They are particularly noticeable in the sexually dimorphic phenotypic traits that distinguish the sexes of a species. Secondary sex characteristics differ from primary sex characteristics, the sex organs, because they are not directly necessary for sexual reproduction to occur.
