First Wild-Born Black-Footed Ferrets in Grasslands National Park

The dog of Rancher Lucille Hogg from Meeteetse, Wyoming, brought a dead black-footed ferret to her door in. The species as considered extinct from 1979. The rediscovery was followed by a program of captive breeding and reintroduction into the wild. Currently, there are eighteen healthy black-footed ferret populations in the US.
