How 'Lucy' Got Her Name

Anthropologists discovered most complete early human skeleton so far. The specimen was found near the village Hadar in the Awash Valley, Ethiopia. Its official catalog number is AL 288-1, but it is commonly known as Lucy. The bones belonged to Australopithecus afarensis female. She lived 3.2 million years ago.
