First Nuclear Sustained Chain Reaction

An international team of scientists led by Enrico Fermi initiated the first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction. The experimental apparatus was placed at the University of Chicago. Uranium in the reactor released neutrons. Their speed was reduced using graphite blocks. Slow neutrons than kicked other neutrons from more uranium nuclei.
