What Is the RNA World Hypothesis?
American biochemist and molecular biologist Thomas Cech is most famous for his discovery of ribozymes (with Sidney Altman). A ribozyme is an RNA molecule which can catalyze chemical reactions. According to the later developed RNA world hypothesis, first living organisms on Earth were similar to today's ribozymes.
