12/10/1899 DDT inventor is born

In 1937, Swiss chemist Paul Müller was asked by his superiors to find some chemical for killing insects. He found that insects absorb chemicals differently than mammals and believed there are chemicals mortal to insects but harmless to humans. After some experimenting, he found dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT, first synthesized in 1874).
