A pisonet, a term coined from two(2) words "pisong internet" ...hence, piso + net = pisonet. It is an arcade style computer unit used as a internet or gaming vending machine. It is the contemporary with the earlier style of internet cafe. It is originally invented in Pangasinan as a sort of rural areas' counter-response against Dagupan city's booming internet shop/cafe sometime during 2008-2013 and then later spread in the areas of neighboring regions of Pangasinan and in Metro Manila, Philippines. Internet started to spread in Dagupan city at around 1998 mainly in schools/universities only because it is expensive & only PLDT is the ISP. At around 2000-2010, a shop/cafe hooked to the internet are still few & have limited speed or have lesser desktop accommodations. Along came GLOBE ISP in 2010, but still metro-dagupan have limited or no access to internet at all because tower relays is still expensive to build with the basis of few consumers that can afford. Then by 2011, Pisonet was invented or created and it was meant to be for rural areas which doesn't have internet access but enable a patron/customer to use or access a computer/pc for a meager cheap one(1) peso only. The idea was adopted from the gaming gambling arcade known in Pangasinan as Hataw & Amoneng. During the year of 2013 & 2014, the Pisonet proliferates and by 2015 there's a wide abrupt closure of internet shop/cafe mainly in Dagupan city because customers no longer visits them instead they just use Pisonet that are installed near their neighborhood which is just a mere few steps away. Nowadays, it is widely introduced to some Internet Cafe operators throughout Metro Manila and then later introduced to the southern part of Cebu City.
