Avian sarcoma leukosis virus (ASLV) is an endogenous retrovirus that infects and can lead to cancer in chickens; experimentally it can infect other species of birds and mammals. Different forms of the disease exist, including lymphoblastic, erythroblastic, and osteopetrotic.
