The Baltimore County Courthouses are located in Towson, the older original Baltimore County Courthouse of 1854-1856 houses many of the offices of the County government, of both of the executive branch and the legislative branch, while the County Courts Building of 1970-1971 is dedicated to the civil, criminal, family and juvenile divisions of the Circuit Court of Maryland for Baltimore County, as well as the Baltimore County Sheriff's Office with its protection of the Courthouse and its judicial personnel and law enforcement functions.
