He greatly improved older design of steam engine by Thomas Newcomen into new Watt steam engine. It was much more effective, powerful and cheaper than all older types. Watt later adapted the engine to produce rotary motion, greatly broadening its use. Watts’s invention was fundamental for the Industrial revolution.
