Yeager's Wild Ride in the X-1A

The best pilot of all times, Chuck Yeager, reached the speed of Mach 2.5. He flew the Bell X-1A, a modified version of the machine, in which Yeager earlier overcame the speed of sound. Shortly after achieving the speed of Mach 2.5, the airplane spun out of control. Yeager broke the canopy with his helmet but survived.
