Science from scratch - The Meissner effect
German physicist Walther Meissner discovered the Meissner effect, together with Robert Ochsenfeld, hence also called Meissner–Ochsenfeld effect. It is a very strange phenomenon related to superconductivity: an expulsion of a magnetic field from a superconductor during its transition to the superconducting state.
