Engineering Faster Planes in WWII: Kelly Johnson, the P-38 and the P-80
American aeronautical engineer Kelly Johnson was the first leader of the famous Advanced Development Projects department in Lockheed, usually called just Skunk Works. He contributed in many designs. Most famous of them are the P-38 lighting, F-104 Starfighter, F-117 Nighthawk, C-130 Hercules, U-2, or SR-71 Blackbird.
