11/11/1933 Billie Holiday's first hit, "Riffin' the Scotch", is released

Eleanora Fagan, professionally known as Billie Holiday, was an American jazz musician and singer-songwriter with a career spanning nearly thirty years. At age 18, she recorded two songs: "Your Mother's Son-in-Law" and "Riffin' the Scotch", the latter being her first hit and selling 5,000 copies.
