Leo Tolstoy was a Russian writer best known for the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina. Tolstoy died of pneumonia at Astapovo train station, after a day's rail journey. The station master took Tolstoy to his apartment, where he was given injections of morphine and camphor by his doctors.
