Apollo 8 returned to Earth. Astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bil Anders went to Moon orbited it and went back. They were first people to leave Earth’s orbit, first people who directly saw far side of the Moon and Earth as a whole planet. They also witnessed Earthrise above a horizon of a foreign celestial body for the first time.
