García Márquez is best known for his novels One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Autumn of the Patriarch and Love in the Time of Cholera and for popularizing a literary style known as magic realism, which uses magical elements in realistic situations. Magic realism helped him to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
