22/12/1989 Irish French writer Samuel Beckett dies at 83

In 1969, Samuel Becket was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. For most of his adult life, he lived in Paris and wrote in both English and French. He died only 5 months later than his wife Suzanne, as he suffered from emphysema and possibly Parkinson's disease.
