In 1964, Susan Sontag published her 1st major work, the essay called Notes on Camp. She was active in writing and speaking about areas of conflict, including the Vietnam War and the Siege of Sarajevo. She died from complications of myelodysplastic syndrome which had evolved into acute myelogenous leukemia.
