He was on the tour and boarded a chartered DC-3 in Alabama with his fiancee and five other people, bound for a New Year’s Eve appearance in Dallas. Shortly before reaching Dallas, the cabin of the plane filled with smoke due to a fire of undetermined origin. The plane crashed in a wooded area.
