Chuck Yeager Breaks the Sound Barrier -- X-1 -- 1947

He was the first pilot who exceeded the speed of sound. He flew the experimental aircraft Bell X-1. At that time, Yeager was already a flying ace from the WW2. He downed five enemy aircraft in a single mission. Yeager served as a military commander all around the globe. His cousin is a famous baseball catcher Steve Yeager.
