Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter and theoretician who is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He died of pneumonia and was interred at the Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. A memorial was held for Mondrian at the Universal Chapel on Lexington Avenue and 52nd Street in Manhattan. The service was attended by nearly 200 people.
