He is most famous for applying the greenhouse effect on climate of the Earth. When he was trying to explain ice ages, he predicted that increase of atmospheric CO2 will cause global warming. He also researched dissociation (splitting of molecules in smaller particles), invented a definition of an acid and promoted eugenics.
