Cosmic Inflation Explained

He is known for developing now widely accepted idea of the cosmic inflation. His theory states that when the universe was very young, it expanded exponentially for a brief time. The expansion means that the scale of space itself changes. It did not expand into anything and does not require space to exist outside. The universe is still expanding now, but not as fast as in the inflation period.
