28/02/1948 American physicist Steven Chu is born

He is most known for his research in cooling and trapping atoms using laser light. Random thermal motion of atoms limits precise measurements their states. Chu managed to cool sodium atoms to a temperature of about 240 millionth of a degree above absolute zero. He is also advocate for research of renewable energy and nuclear power.
