How Does Dialysis Work?

Dutch-American physician Willem Kolff tested his artificial kidney for the first time on a living patient. The test was unsuccessful, his patient died. Kolff’s did not give up and improved his design into the first clinically useful machine. Two years later he successfully treated 67-years old woman in a uremic coma.
