Adams was born in Cambridge, England. He grew up in London and later in Brentwood, Essex. He was well known in school for his story-writing. During his life, he took jobs like hospital porter, builder or bodyguard, until he managed to establish himself as a writer. He is best known for „The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy“.
