Jerome came up with the idea of a rectangular shelf clock sell-able for $1, called the OG clock. Many clockmakers saw him as a fool. But Jerome made a fortune by selling his clocks. His business grew quickly. By 1837 Jerome's company was selling more clocks than any of his competitors. However, 1856, the company went bankrupt. Jerome died in poverty.
