Anning made her first significant discovery at the age of 11 when she found a complete skeleton of an Ichthyosaur, a large marine reptile from the Jurassic period. The skeleton was ten-meter-long. It created a sensation and made Mary Anning famous. Later she found the first complete Plesiosaurus, another large extinct marine reptile.
