Great British Inventions - The Hovercraft

He is known as the inventor of the hovercraft. Cockerell wanted to design a boat which is not slowed by the water drag. In 1954, he performed an experiment using kitchen scales, tin cans, and a vacuum cleaner to show that a stream of air could solve the problem. The next year he built first working balsa wood model of hovercraft.
