Mount Everest Climber Reflects on the 2008 K2 Avalanche
On the Himalayan peak K2 which is with its 8 611m the second highest mountain in the world, 11 climbers perished an international expedition and wanted to overcome the peak without the help of oxygen
devices. As a result of a series of errors in the preparation and bad weather the mountaineers gradually died of falls, avalanches and mountain sickness, others suffered heavy frostbite. It was one of the worst tragedies in the history of mountaineering.
