08/08/1986 New Zealand legalizes homosexuality

The rights of the LGBT community received more awareness in the late 20th century and male same-sex sexual activity was decriminalized. The age of consent was set to 16. It happened thanks to Fran Wilde, Labour Member of Parliament who developed Homosexual Law Reform Bill with gay rights group and introduced it to Parliament.
