Alexander Fleming and the Accidental Mould Juice – The Serendipity of Science (2/3)

He is known as the discoverer of the Penicillin – the world's first antibiotic substance. The discovery was accidental. Fleming unintentionally contaminated one of his Petri dishes with bacteria by fungus. The fungus was natural Penicillin producer. Fleming also discovered the enzyme lysozyme, which catalyses the destruction of bacterial cell wall.
