24/08/2004 Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross dies

She is known as a leading authority on the psychology of dying. In 1969 she published a book On Death and Dying, in which she proposed that the terminally ill go through five stages in their attitude. These are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. The book offers strategies for caregivers.
