Miami Open (tennis)

The Miami Open, sometimes known as the Miami Masters, is an annual tennis tournament for men and women currently held in Key Biscayne, Florida, an island town just off the coast of Miami. The tournament is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour, played on hard courts at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park through 2018. The event is held annually in March. In 2019, the event will move to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens north of Miami.

Ashleigh "Ash" Barty is an Australian professional tennis player and former cricketer. She is the top-ranked Australian in both women's singles and doubles, and has been ranked as high as No. 9 in singles and No. 5 in doubles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Barty has won four singles titles and nine doubles titles on the WTA Tour, including one Grand Slam title at the 2018 US Open with partner CoCo Vandeweghe. She has also reached the doubles final at all four Grand Slam tournaments with her longtime partner and compatriot Casey Dellacqua.

John Robert Isner is an American professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 11 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Considered one of the best servers of the ATP World Tour, Isner achieved his career-high singles ranking of world No. 8 in July 2018 by virtue of his maiden Masters 1000 crown at the 2018 Miami Open and a semifinals appearance at Wimbledon 2018. He currently has the 2nd-most aces in the history of ATP, having served 10,675 aces. At the 2010 Wimbledon Championships, he played the longest professional tennis match in history, defeating Nicolas Mahut in a total of 11 hours and 5 minutes of play over the course of three days.

Serena Jameka Williams is an American professional tennis player. The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranked her world No. 1 in singles on eight separate occasions between 2002 and 2017. She reached the No. 1 ranking for the first time on July 8, 2002. On her sixth occasion, she held the ranking for 186 consecutive weeks, tying the record set by Steffi Graf. In total, she has been No. 1 for 319 weeks, which ranks third in the "Open Era" among female players behind Graf and Martina Navratilova.
