Praveen Kumar Sobti

Praveen Kumar Sobti was an Indian hammer and discus thrower, film actor, politician, and soldier with Border Security Force. As a 20 year old he joined then newly raised Border Security Force from where he attracted the attention of his officers through his fine athletic skills and went to represent India at various athletic events in "Discus throw". As an athlete he won four medals at the Asian Games, including two gold medals, won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games and competed in two Olympics. As an actor, he starred in more than 50 Hindi films and played the famous character of "Bheem" in B.R. Chopra's television series Mahabharat that started in 1988. As a politician he contested the 2013 Delhi Legislative elections on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket, but lost. Subsequently, in 2014, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Yuriy Georgiyevich Sedykh is a retired Soviet track and field athlete who represented the Soviet Union, specialising in the hammer throw. He was a World and Olympic Champion and holds the world record with a throw of 86.74 m.

Dilshod Jamoliddinovich Nazarov is a Tajikistani track and field athlete who specializes in the hammer throw. He has represented his country at the Olympic Games on four occasions, winning the gold medal in Rio de Janeiro, the first gold medal for Tajikistan in the history of the Olympic Games.

Kamila Skolimowska

Kamila Skolimowska was a Polish hammer thrower. She is best known for her gold medal in the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics, which made her the youngest Olympic hammer champion, as well as for her two medals from the European Championships. Her personal best throw, and former Polish record, was 76.83 metres, achieved in May 2007 in Doha. She died on the 18 February 2009 in Vila Real de Santo António, Portugal at the Polish national team training camp.

Gwen Berry

Gwendolyn Denise "Gwen" Berry is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the hammer throw. She is the American record holder in the hammer with her mark of 76.31 m set in May 2016. She also holds the world record in the weight throw with a mark of 25.60 m set in March 2017. On June 8, 2018, she improve upon her mark to 77.78 m (255 ft 2 in), which currently pending as a new American record and the #3 mark on the all time list. She is a three-time national champion in the weight throw at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. She was the gold medallist in the hammer at the 2014 Pan American Sports Festival.

Sergey Litvinov

Sergey Nikolaevich Litvinov was a Russian hammer thrower and athletics coach. He competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics and the 1988 Summer Olympics, missing the 1984 Summer Olympics due to the Soviet boycott, and won a silver and a gold medal, respectively. He also won two world titles, in 1983 and 1987. After retiring from competitions he coached elite hammer throwers including Ivan Tsikhan and his son Sergey.

Anatoliy Pavlovych Bondarchuk is a retired Ukrainian hammer thrower who competed for the Soviet Union. An Olympic gold medallist, he is also regarded as one of the most accomplished hammer throw coaches of all time. He is the author of a two-volume book Transfer of Training, which was translated from Russian to English by Michael Yessis.
