'Parks and Recreation' celebrates its 100th episode

Despite the generally low ratings, Parks and Recreation was renewed for a 6th season. NBC had a financial incentive to continue the series, as it owns the distribution rights via its NBCUniversal Television Distribution company: the 6th season put the series over the 100 episodes milestone, making it more viable for syndication.

31st People's Choice Awards

They were hosted by Jason Alexander and Malcolm-Jamal Warner. Award for Favorite Male Movie Star was for Johnny Depp, who addresses the crowd live from satellite. Sean Hayes says that people do animation work because they get a ton of cash to work in their pajamas. He then presents the PCA for Favorite Animated Movie to Shrek 2.

Scissor Sisters are at No. 1 on the UK album chart

Scissor Sisters is the debut studio album by American glam rock band Scissor Sisters. It reached number 1 on the UK and Irish albums charts and was the best-selling album of 2004 in the UK. Both in UK and Ireland, the album has been certified Platinum more than 4 times.

Michael Jackson receives the Artist of the Century award

Famous for his choreography and music videos Jackson dominated pop music. During his career, Jackson won a record 26 American Music Awards. He appeared on the 29th annual American Music Awards to accept the Artist of the Century Award from comedian Chris Tucker at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

26th People's Choice Awards

They were hosted by Don Johnson and Cheech Marin. Friends was awarded for Favorite Television Comedy Series. Lisa Kudrow did the speaking honors for the huge number of people involved that came up on stage. The winners of Favorite Musical Group was the Backstreet Boys. But they were not in attendance.

Heart attacks sends Frank Sinatra back to hospital

Frank Sinatra was hospitalized after suffering an apparent heart attack, just two days after he was released from the hospital for an unspecified ailment. He had an uncomplicated heart attack and was undergoing tests, observation and treatment and the prognosis was good. Sinatra was resting in a regular hospital room.

Whitney Houston is at #1 on the US singles chart

So Emotional is a song by American singer Whitney Houston. It was released as the third single from her second studio album Whitney. The song was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. Commercially, it peaked at number 5 in the UK and number one in the Billboard Hot 100, where it became her 6th consecutive number one, and a dance chart hit.

Western series 'Rawhide' debuts on CBS

Rawhide is an American Western TV series starring Eric Fleming and Clint Eastwood. The show aired for 8 seasons on the CBS network on Friday nights with a total of 217 black-and-white episodes. The series was produced and sometimes directed by Charles Marquis Warren, who also produced early episodes of Gunsmoke.

'Mambo Italiano' is at No. 1 on the UK singles chart

The song was written by Bob Merrill for the American singer Rosemary Clooney under a recording deadline. Yet it became a hit for Clooney, reaching number 10 in the Billboard Hot 100 and number one in the UK Singles Chart early in 1955. The writer wrote the song on a napkin in an Italian restaurant in New York City and then used the wall pay-phone to dictate the melody.
