LeBron James joins 30k NBA points club

James became the youngest ever to join the NBA's 30,000-point club. He was recognized by the arena before the second quarter and got a standing ovation from Spurs fans. James patted his heart and said "thank you so much."

NHL approves move of Winnipeg Jets to Phoenix

American businessmen Steven Gluckstern and Richard Burke originally planned to move the team to Minnesota, but eventually moved the team to Arizona and hence Winnipeg Jets became Phoenix Coyotes. The original Winnipeg Jets played their last game on April 28, 1999.

Austrian ski racer dies after big crash during race

During training for the Lauberhorn race, while entering the finish S, Reinstadler lost control and crashed into safety nets at full speed, where one of his skis became trapped. Reinstadler suffered a pelvic fracture and severe internal injuries as his organs bled out onto the slope. He died later the same night at a hospital in Interlaken, even after undergoing several blood transfusions.

English race car driver Jenson Button is born

Jenson Button is a British racing driver. He won the 2009 Formula One World Championship, driving for Brawn GP. From the 306 races that Button has started, he has won 15, with a total of 50 podium finishes. He is involved in charitable work through the creation of The Jenson Button Trust.

Former Cameroon right-back Lauren is born

Lauren is a retired Cameroonian footballer of Equatoguinean origin, who formerly played as a right back for the Cameroonian national team. As an Arsenal player, he won several trophies and is known as one of the 'Invincibles'. He also won an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics with Cameroon. He also holds Spanish citizenship due to being raised in Spain.

Real Madrid and Yugoslavia striker Predrag Mijatovic is born

Predrag "Peđa" Mijatović is a retired professional footballer who played as a striker. At club level, Mijatović played for 6 different clubs: Budućnost Podgorica, Partizan, Valencia, Real Madrid, Fiorentina and Levante. At international level, he played for the Yugoslavia national team at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and at UEFA Euro 2000.
