New England Patriots win their sixth Super Bowl

Super Bowl LIII was an American football game between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The Patriots defeat the Rams by a score of 13–3 and won their sixth championship. It was the third Super Bowl in Atlanta. The halftime show was headlined by U.S. pop group Maroon 5, joined by rappers Big Boi and Travis Scott as guests.


Giants upset Patriots and win Super Bowl XLII

The Giants defeated the Patriots by the score of 17–14. The game was played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. It is regarded as one of the biggest upsets in the history of professional sports, as well as one of the finest Super Bowl games.


New England Patriots win their first Super Bowl

The Patriots defeated the Rams 20–17. It was New England's first Super Bowl championship, and the franchise's first league championship of any kind, having suffered three previous losses. The game was played at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.


Columbian Óscar Córdoba is born

Óscar Eduardo Córdoba Arce is a retired Colombian football goalkeeper who has played more than 70 games for the Colombia national team. He is also the only person to never concede a goal in a Copa América edition. Córdoba started playing professionally with Atlético Nacional in 1988, but transferred to Deportivo Cali later and loaned to Deportes Quindío in 1990.


Greek giants Panathinaikos are founded

Created as "Podosfairikos Omilos Athinon" by Georgios Kalafatis, they play in the Super League Greece, being one of the most successful clubs in Greek football and one of three clubs which have never been relegated from the top division. Amongst their major titles are 20 Greek Championships, 18 Greek Cups, achieving eight times the Double, and 3 Greek Super Cups.
