Ferry carrying 100 passengers capsizes

A 2-deck ferry with a maximum capacity of 100 to 120 passengers carried roughly 150-200 people from Daulatdia to Paturia in Bangladesh. It crashed into a trawler after the vessels did not leave enough space to pass between one another. This caused the ferry to capsize, trapping passengers in and leaving up to 70 of them to die.

Train crashes in Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires rail disaster occurred when a train crashed at Once Station in the Balvanera neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fifty-one people were killed and more than 700 were injured. It was the second fatal accident on the line within six months, following the Flores rail crash.

Christchurch earthquake

A Mw 6.2 earthquake occurred in Christchurch on 22 February 2011 at 12:51 p.m. local time. The earthquake struck the Canterbury Region in New Zealand's South Island and was centred 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) west of the port town of Lyttelton, and 10 kilometres (6 mi) south-east of the centre of Christchurch, at the time New Zealand's second-most populous city. The earthquake caused widespread damage across Christchurch, killing 185 people in the nation's fifth-deadliest disaster.
