Pedestrian bridge collapses onto highway

A 175-foot-long, recently-made section of the FIU-Sweetwater UniversityCity pedestrian bridge collapsed onto the Tamiami Trail, resulting in six deaths and eight injuries, and eight vehicles were crushed underneath. An examination carried out by the Federal Highway Administration discovered faults in the design of the bridge.

Gërdec explosions

The methodical destruction of the old ammo was supposed to occur with a series of small, controlled explosions, but a chain of events led to the entire stockpile going up at once. The main explosion destroyed hundreds of houses within a few kilometers from the depot. Albanian authorities confirmed 26 deaths in the explosions.

Bourbonnais train crash

The 1999 Bourbonnais, Illinois, train crash was a collision between Amtrak's southbound City of New Orleans passenger train and a semi-trailer truck in the village of Bourbonnais, Illinois, near the city of Kankakee. Most of the train derailed, killing 11 people.

Collapse of Hotel New World

The collapse of the Hotel New World was Singapore's deadliest civil disaster since the Spyros disaster in 1978. The six-storey building situated at the junction of Serangoon Road and Owen Road rapidly collapsed, trapping 50 people beneath the rubble. Seventeen people were rescued, whereas 33 people were killed.
