Broadway revival of 'She Loves Me' opens

The musical She Loves Me is the third adaptation of the 1937 play Parfumerie by Hungarian playwright Miklós László. The second Broadway revival opened at Studio 54 by the Roundabout Theatre Company. The production won 10 awards in total, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical from Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards.

'Monty Python's Spamalot' opens on Broadway

Spamalot is a musical comedy adapted from the 1975 movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The Broadway production opened at Shubert Theatre with Mike Nichols as a director and Casey Nicholaw as choreograph. The production won three Tony Awards, out of 14 nominations, including the award for Best Musical.

Queen Elizabeth II opens new London Bridge

London Bridge spans the River Thames between the City of London and Southwark, in central London. The bridge is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates. It was designed by architect Lord Holford and engineers Mott, Hay, and Anderson. The bridge is built of concrete and steel.

Construction of the Empire State Building begins

The Empire State Building was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon. The skyscraper was opened thirteen and a half months after the construction started. It is located on the west side of Fifth Avenue between West 33rd and 34th Streets. Its name is derived from Empire State, the nickname of New York.
