Westminster attack

A terrorist attack took place in the vicinity of the Palace of Westminster in London, a seat of the British Parliament. The attacker drove a car into pedestrians on the pavement along the south side of Westminster Bridge and Bridge Street, killing 5 people and injuring 49.

Brussels terrorist attacks

Three suicide bombings occurred in Belgium: two at Brussels Airport in Zaventem and one at Maalbeek metro station in central Brussels. 32 civilians and 3 perpetrators were killed, and more than 300 persons were injured. The responsibility for the attacks was claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Oso mudslide

A major landslide occurred 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Oso, Washington, United States, on March 22, 2014, at 10:37 a.m. local time. A portion of an unstable hill collapsed, sending mud and debris to the south across the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River, engulfing a rural neighborhood, and covering an area of approximately 1 square mile (2.6 km2). Forty-three people were killed and 49 homes and other structures destroyed.

Ban Mae Surin refugee camp fire

A fire at the Ban Mae Surin refugee camp in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand, killed 37 Karen refugees from neighbouring Myanmar, as well as destroying hundreds of dwellings. Thought to have started following a "cooking accident", the fire began at around 16:00 local time, and extinguished around two hours later. The fire had been spread by hot weather combined with strong winds.
