Real Zaragoza win the European Cup Winners Cup

The 1994–95 season of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was won by Real Zaragoza in the final against defending champions Arsenal, the Spanish club famously winning thanks to a spectacular last-minute goal from midfielder Nayim with an effort from 40 yards.

NHL star Ryan Getzlaf is born

Ryan Getzlaf is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who currently serves as captain of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. Getzlaf has played his entire professional career in the Ducks organization and ranks as one of the franchise's all-time leading scorers.

Bobby Orr scores 'The Goal'

The Bruins won the series 4–0, their first Stanley Cup victory in 29 years. Bobby Orr scored the Cup-winning goal on Glenn Hall, with an assist from Derek Sanderson, at forty seconds of overtime, and the subsequent image of Orr flying through the air, his arms raised in victory is one of the most famous and recognized hockey images of all time.

American football player Pat Summerall is born

George Allen "Pat" Summerall was an American football player and television sportscaster. In addition to football, he also announced major golf and tennis events. In total, he announced 16 Super Bowls on network television, 26 Masters Tournaments, and 21 US Opens.
