Russia signs a major 30-year deal worth $400bn to deliver gas to China

Latest developments in May 2014 announced that China and Russia reached a 30-year gas deal where Russia would supply 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas each year to China. These developments continue to show Russia and China's attempts to work together outside of USA confinements.

The tallest roller coaster in the world opens

Kingda Ka is a steel accelerator roller coaster. Besides other things, it is the world's second fastest roller coaster, and was the second strata coaster ever built. It was built by Stakotra, a subcontractor to Intamin. The train is launched by a hydraulic launch mechanism to 128 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds.

Bomb kills India's former leader Rajiv Gandhi

The assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India, occurred as a result of a suicide bombing in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, India. At least 14 others were also killed. It was carried out by Thenmozhi Rajaratnam, also known as Dhanu, member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam .

Sada Abe is arrested with her dead lover's severed genitals

Sada Abe was a Japanese woman, a geisha and prostitute, who erotically asphyxiated her lover, Kichizō Ishida, in 1936, and then cut off his penis and testicles and carried them around with her in her kimono. Abe was released after having served five years in prison and went on to write an autobiography.

U.S. Congress made the first step to allow women to vote

Congress submitted the amendment to the states for ratification. It was ratified by three-fourths of the states a year later, with Tennessee's ratification being the last needed to add the amendment to the Constitution. In Leser v. Garnett, the Supreme Court rejected claims that the amendment was unconstitutionally adopted.
