Univision terminates contract with Donald Trump

Univision canceled its telecast of the Miss USA pageant, an event partially owned by Donald Trump, to protest Trump's offensive remarks about Mexicans. Univision is the biggest Spanish-language broadcaster in the United States, so its decision is a blow to the Miss Universe Organization, a joint venture of Trump and Comcast's NBCUniversal division.

Arcelor agrees to join Mittal

ArcelorMittal S.A. was formed in 2006 from the takeover and merger of Arcelor by Indian owned Mittal Steel. ArcelorMittal is the world's largest steel producer, with an annual crude steel production of 98.1 million tons as of 2014. It is ranked 123 in the 2017 Fortune Global 500 ranking of the world's biggest corporations.

Independence of Slovenia and Croatia is declared

In the Slovenian independence referendum held on 23 December 1990, a vast majority of residents voted for independence. Also in the Croatian independence referendum held on 2 May 1991, 93.24% voted for independence. Finally, the sovereignty of both countries was declared on 25 June 1991.

Microsoft is incorporated

The company restructured in June 1981, to become an incorporated business in its home state of Washington. As part of the restructuring, Bill Gates became president of the company and chairman of the board, and Paul Allen became Executive Vice President.

CBS airs first commercial colour TV signal

An unsuccessful lawsuit by RCA delayed the first commercial network broadcast in color until June 1951, when a musical variety special titled simply Premiere was shown over a network of five East Coast CBS affiliates. Viewing was again restricted: the program could not be seen on black-and-white sets, and Variety estimated that only thirty prototype color receivers were available in the New York area.

Korean war breaks out

The Korean War was a war between North Korea and South Korea. The war began in June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea following a series of clashes along the border. The United Nations, with the US as the principal force, came to the aid of South Korea. China came to the aid of North Korea, and the Soviet Union also gave some assistance to the North.

7th Cavalry is slaughtered by Sioux

The Battle of the Little Bighorn was an armed engagement between combined forces of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes and the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The battle, which resulted in the defeat of US forces, was the most significant action of the Great Sioux War of 1876.
