Jimmy Choo bought by Michael Kors

Jimmy Choo Ltd is a British high fashion house specialising in shoes, handbags, accessories and fragrances. The company put itself up for sale in April 2017. In July, it was announced that Jimmy Choo would be bought by Michael Kors Holdings in a deal worth £896m.

U.S. lift minimum wage to the current $7.25 per hour

The Fair Minimum Wage Act is a US Act of Congress that amended the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to gradually raise the federal minimum wage from $5.15 per hour to $7.25 per hour. The act raised the federal minimum wage to $7.25 per hour 12 months after its enactment.

Nixon is ordered to hand over Watergate tapes

The Nixon White House tapes are audio recordings of conversations between U.S. President Richard Nixon and Nixon administration officials, Nixon family members, and White House staff. One of those tapes was the so-called "smoking gun" tape, recorded six days after the Watergate break-in.

Mata Hari's trial begins

Mata Hari was put on trial, being accused of spying for Germany and causing the deaths of at least 50,000 soldiers. Although the French and British intelligence suspected her of spying for Germany, neither could produce definite evidence against her. Supposedly secret ink was found in her room, which was incriminating evidence in that period.
